Shara Klein

SVP, People at OpenGov

Shara Klein is the SVP of People at OpenGov. Shara has over 10 years of experience in Human Resources and has held various positions at different companies. Shara started their career as an HR Business Partner at TiVo and then became a Senior Talent and Organizational Development Manager at Sunrun. After Sunrun, they became an HR Consultant at Grammarly before joining Drop (formerly Massdrop) as the Senior Director, Head of People Ops and Talent. At Drop, they were responsible for the Talent, People, and Office functions and led a team of six employees. Shara grew the employee base from 60 to 100 and was a member of the Executive team, reporting to the CEO. Shara successfully onboarded four new Executives in a three-month period. Shara also lead the design and on-budget buildout of a new office on an eight-week turnaround and managed all communication and logistics for the move-in. Shara created and rolled out a compensation philosophy and broad-band compensation structure and managed all aspects of the bi-annual increase/promotion cycles. In their time at Drop, they also developed an online “wiki” of tools and materials for all three functions, ensuring effective scalable methods information sharing.

Shara Klein received their BA in Political Science from the University of California, Los Angeles, with a concentration in International Relations.

Shara Klein works with Angela Langston - SVP, Professional Services, Thiago Sá Freire - President, Field Operations, and Terrence Curley - Chief Product Officer. and Shara Seligman - VP, People reports to Shara Klein. Shara Klein reports to Zac Bookman, CEO & Co-Founder.
