Sohail Siadatnejad

Sohail Siadatnejad has a diverse work experience spanning several industries and roles.

Starting in 2003, they worked as a university lecturer at both Sharif University of Technology and Shahid Beheshti University. In 2006, they joined IPM as a researcher in Cognitive Neuroscience and also collaborated with the Brain and Cognitive Sciences Lab. In 2008, Siadatnejad pursued a PhD at the University of Manchester, where they focused on lower-level vision in genetically modified animals.

After completing their PhD in 2013, Siadatnejad continued their research at the University of Manchester as a Postdoctoral Research Associate. Here, they developed and implemented methods for characterizing visual features and analyzing neural responses.

In 2014, Siadatnejad briefly worked as a backend developer at WIDE IO, honing their skills in Python, Linux, and cloud infrastructure. Later that year, they joined iMakr as the CTO of WeDesign.Live, leading the development of 3D printing technology and managing the MP5 project. Sohail also served as a lead developer during this time.

In 2015, Siadatnejad transitioned to the role of Senior Research Officer at the University of Essex, where they specialized in Neural Engineering and Brain-Machine Interfaces. Here, they focused on developing algorithms for prosthetic robotic hands, specifically neuro-muscular control algorithms for decoding users' intentions.

From 2018 to 2022, Siadatnejad worked at Lloyds Banking Group, though the specific role is unspecified. In 2022, they joined Opteran as a Senior Software Development Engineer, contributing to the development of neuroscience-inspired AI using C++ and ROS2.

Sohail Siadatnejad has a diverse education history. Sohail obtained a PhD in Computational Neuroscience from The University of Manchester in the year 2013. Before that, they completed their Master of Science in Computer Science from Sharif University of Technology, where they studied from 2001 to 2005. Sohail also holds a Bachelor of Science (visitor) degree in Computer Engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology - Tehran Polytechnic, which they completed in 1998.

Prior to their university studies, Sohail Siadatnejad received their High School Diploma from Ezheii (Exceptional Talents) in the field of Maths and Physics, where they attended from 1991 to 1995. Additionally, they completed their middle school education at Ezheii (Exceptional Talents).

In terms of certifications, Sohail Siadatnejad obtained the Microsoft OpenHack: Containers certification from Microsoft in March 2020.
