Anthony Boulmier, PhD

Anthony Boulmier, PhD, has extensive work experience in the field of software engineering and research. Anthony started their career at CERN as an OpenLab Summer Student in 2012. Anthony then joined Mississippi State University as a Master Thesis Student, where they developed a new autonomic computing approach and a Reinforcement Learning library. After that, they worked at HES-SO Haute école spécialisée de Suisse occidentale as a Research Assistant from 2014 to 2021.

In 2016, Anthony began their PhD journey at the University of Geneva, where they also served as a Teaching Assistant. During their PhD, they worked on various research projects related to anti-abuse with the VPN R&D group at Proton. Anthony implemented and maintained server-side protocols, low-level networking functionalities, and ProtonVPN features using languages such as C++, Python, Rust, Redis, and firewall rules.

Currently, Anthony works as a Software Engineer at OptumSoft, starting in 2023.

Anthony Boulmier, PhD, obtained their highest level of education at the University of Geneva, where they earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Computer Science from 2016 to 2021. Prior to that, they completed their Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Computer Science at HES-SO Haute école spécialisée de Suisse occidentale from 2014 to 2016. Anthony also holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) degree in Computer Software Engineering from the same institution, earned from 2011 to 2014. Anthony began their educational journey at CFP-Technique, where they obtained a Certificat Fédéral de Capacité in Informatique from 2008 to 2011.
