Ian Walmsley has a long and varied work experience. Ian began their career in 2001 at the University of Oxford, where they held the positions of Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Hooke Professor of Experimental Physics. In 2018, they joined Imperial College London as Provost. In 2020, they co-founded ORCA Computing.
Ian Walmsley obtained their Bachelor of Science in Physics from Imperial College London between 1977 and 1980. Ian then went on to earn their Doctor of Philosophy in Optics/Optical Sciences from the University of Rochester between 1980 and 1986.
