Jon Thompson

Jon Thompson has extensive work experience in the sales engineering field. Jon most recently worked at Orca Security as the Director of Sales Engineering for the US West region. Prior to this, they were a Senior Sales Engineer at the same company. Jon also gained experience as a Member of the PreSales Collective.

Before joining Orca Security, Jon worked at Obsidian Security as the Director of Solutions Engineering for the West region. Jon was promoted to this position after starting as a Senior Security Solutions Engineer. During their time at Obsidian Security, Jon managed a team of pre and post-sales engineers and was the highest-grossing Sales Engineer in the region. Jon was responsible for driving revenue, forecasting, escalation, and conducting business value assessments. Jon also continued serving as the primary Sales Engineer for the Bay Area and Mountain regions.

Prior to Obsidian Security, Jon worked at Lacework as a Senior Cloud Security Sales Engineer, specializing in end-to-end cloud security for workloads, containers, and Kubernetes. Jon also worked at New Relic, Inc. as a Senior Solutions Consultant and at Splunk as a Senior Solutions Engineer.

Before that, Jon held several roles at Splunk, including Senior Sales Engineer, Senior Sales Engineering Manager, and Senior Sales Engineer for Partner Alliances and Strategic Accounts. Jon led a team of Sales Engineers across the United States and focused on public sector and state and local government clients.

Earlier in their career, Jon worked at CA Technologies as a Senior Sales Engineer and at Hewlett Packard Enterprise as a Senior Solutions Architect. Jon started their career at Mercury Interactive as a Sales Engineer.

Throughout their career, Jon has gained expertise in various areas of sales engineering, including cloud security, SaaS security, operational intelligence, and threat management.

Jon Thompson obtained a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Colorado State University from 1994 to 1998. Jon also holds certifications in Splunk Certified Sales Engineer III from Splunk, ITIL from AXELOS Global Best Practice, and Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) from Microsoft.
