Lead Data Scientist at Ordnance Survey

Daniel Collins has a diverse work experience in the field of data science and engineering. Daniel has held various positions in different companies. From 2013 to 2014, Daniel worked as a Data Scientist in the Cabinet Office, where they helped establish government policies on big data analysis and security accreditation. In 2014, they joined Academia Sinica as a Postdoctoral Fellow, focusing on smart cities research and developing an intelligent system to monitor the health of the city in real-time. From 2015 to 2016, Daniel served as the VP Engineering at ThroughTek Co., Ltd., where they developed the Kalay IoT platform and managed strategic relationships and program delivery. Daniel also held the role of Chief Data Officer, overseeing data processing and storage infrastructure. In 2017, Daniel joined Aventri as a Senior Data Scientist, where they built a new streaming platform and reduced data latency and infrastructure costs. Most recently, Daniel has been working as a Lead Data Scientist at Ordnance Survey since 2020.

Daniel Collins received their Bachelor of Physics degree (M.Phys) from the University of Oxford in 2006. Daniel then went on to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (D.Phil) in Physics from the same university, completing it in 2010.
