David Mickle

David Mickle is a skilled scientific manager with extensive experience in research and community engagement. Currently serving as the Lead Scientific Manager at Oregon State University since December 2021, David leads assay development and implementation for a wastewater surveillance pipeline monitoring 40 Oregon communities and analyzes data relevant to public health. Previously, David worked at Benson Hill from November 2018 to July 2022, advancing research in gene editing and molecular cloning while actively participating in diversity and employee engagement initiatives. David's earlier roles include serving as a Resident Advisor and Research Assistant at California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo, where responsibilities included fostering community welfare and conducting molecular biology research. David holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a focus on Molecular and Cellular Biology from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo.
