Cormac Byrne has over 20 years of experience in various engineering and research roles. Cormac began their career as a Validation Engineering Intern at Servier before moving on to Chemical Process Engineer positions at Eli Lilly and Irish Fertiliser Industries. Byrne then worked as a Research Assistant at the School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Cornell University, where they focused on developing a novel planar-flow melt spinning process for continuous casting of metal ribbons. Cormac joined Risø National Laboratory as a Postdoctoral Researcher, where they contributed to the development of novel amorphous metals and tooling technologies for the production of micro-scale medical devices. Byrne later became a Senior Postdoctoral Researcher at University College Dublin, where they developed a commercialization infrastructure for an amorphous metal-based micro-/nano- tooling technology for polymeric medical device components. At Bausch & Lomb, they served as a Senior Process/Materials Engineer, leading research and development activities for limbal ring lens products and printing technology. Byrne's most recent role was at Oriflame Cosmetics, where they held various positions including Principal Process Engineer, Process Technology Development Manager, and Director of Global R&D - Nutritional Products & Interim Director of Technical Operations. In these roles, they led cross-functional teams and contributed to the innovation, development, and commercialization of functional foods, dietary supplements, and cosmetic products for sale in multiple countries.

Cormac Byrne holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, which they earned from Cornell University between 2001 and 2006. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor's degree (BE) in Chemical Engineering from University College Dublin from 1997 to 2001. In 2012 to 2013, they pursued an Advanced Diploma in Project Management at Dublin Business School. Currently, Cormac is pursuing a Professional Diploma in Finance, General at UCD Professional Academy, which they are expected to complete by 2022. In addition to their formal education, they also hold a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification from Bausch + Lomb.
