Alvin R.

Alvin R. has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Alvin began their career at Wolfram Research Inc. in 2004 as a Technical Support Engineer, where they provided troubleshooting advice and developed software modules. In 2007, they joined Queensland Investment Corporation as a PuMP Project Member for a short period. From 2007 to 2012, Alvin worked at Ernst & Young, initially as a Supervisor and later as a Manager, focusing on IT risk advisory, financial costing analysis, and project management audits. Since 2012, they have been with Origin Energy, where they have held various managerial positions in the field of cybersecurity, such as Manager of IT Risk and Information Security, Manager of Cyber Security and Project Services, Senior Manager of Enterprise Cyber Services, and currently holds the position of Head of Security Engineering and Operations. Alvin's responsibilities at Origin Energy have included leading teams, delivering IT risk and security services, conducting risk assessments, developing risk controls, and facilitating technical security testing services.

Alvin R. completed their Master of Information Technology degree with a focus on Management of IT and E-Commerce at QUT (Queensland University of Technology) from 2006 to 2007. Prior to that, they obtained a BSc degree in Mathematics/Computer Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where they studied from 1999 to 2003.

Additionally, Alvin R. has obtained several certifications throughout their career. In July 2019, they became a Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) through ISACA. In May and June 2020, they achieved certifications in Managing Technical Professionals, Building High-Performance Teams, and Managing Experts from LinkedIn. Most recently, in January 2021, they obtained certification as a Certified Incident Responder from PagerDuty.
