Tim R. Holcomb Ph.D. has a long and varied work experience. In 2014, they began their tenure as Professor and Chair of the Department of Entrepreneurship at Miami University. In this role, they were responsible for all strategic, financial, and academic decisions for the department's 500+ undergraduate co-majors and minors in Entrepreneurship and students pursuing one of the department’s three certificates in entrepreneurship. Tim R. was also appointed as the Endowed Cintas Chair in Entrepreneurship. In 2018, they became the Director of the John W. Altman Institute for Entrepreneurship at Miami University, which was awarded the NASDAQ Center of Entrepreneurial Excellence Award in 2020. In 2021, they co-founded 1809 Capital, a growth stage venture capital firm launched by Miami University alumni. Tim R. has also served as a Board Director (Observer) and Advisory Board Chair at OROS, an apparel technology and performance outerwear company, an Advisor for Gravity Diagnostics, an Investor Member with Queen City Angels (QCA) Ascent, Managing Director for RedHawk Ventures, Advisory Board Member for Homeshake, a home buying platform, Advisory Board Member for Cerkl, an integrated SaaS platform, and Advisory Board Member for 4Privacy, a network and data security platform.
Tim R. Holcomb Ph.D. holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Strategic Management from Texas A&M University, with a minor in Entrepreneurship and Research Methods. Tim R. also holds a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) in Management from the University of Louisiana Monroe and a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) in Accounting with a minor in Computer Information Systems from the same university. In addition, they have obtained certificates from the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University, the University of Minnesota - Carlson School of Management, and The George Washington University.
