Xiyu Zhang has a diverse range of work experience in music therapy and research. In 2014, Xiyu started as a Music Therapist intern at Schunam, where they gained valuable experience in their field. Later that same year, Xiyu joined the Institute for Music and Neurologic Function as a Lead Music Therapist, where they worked until at least 2022. During their time at the institute, Xiyu played a prominent role in using music as a therapeutic tool. Xiyu has also recently started working as a Workshop Facilitator at CaringKind, The Heart of Alzheimer's Caregiving, and as a Research Assistant at Oscillo Biosciences in 2022. These roles demonstrate Xiyu's passion for helping others through music therapy and their commitment to furthering research in the field.
Xiyu Zhang has a strong educational background in music therapy and traditional Chinese music. Xiyu completed their Master of Science (M.S.) in Music Therapy/Therapist at SUNY New Paltz from 2011 to 2014. Prior to that, they obtained their Master of Arts (M.A.) in Music Performance, specializing in Traditional Chinese Instruments, from Shandong University of Arts, where they studied from 2007 to 2011.
In addition to their degrees, Xiyu Zhang has obtained relevant certifications to further enhance their professional qualifications. Xiyu became a Music Therapist - Board Certified through the Certification Board for Music Therapists in March 2015. Subsequently, they obtained a license as a Creative Arts Therapist from the New York State Education Department in September 2017. These certifications indicate their dedication to continuing education and commitment to providing high-quality therapeutic services in their field.
