Marc Demeter

Marc Demeter has a diverse work experience in biotechnology and microbiology. Marc currently holds the position of Chief Science Officer at OSP since 2017. Previously, they worked as a Technical Business Director, where they led a team and oversaw the commercial application of biotechnologies and chemistries. Marc also has experience as a Microbial Services Manager, where they provided technical support to the oil and gas industry. Marc has worked in various roles at OSP, including Applications Microbiologist and Team Lead OSP Services. Prior to joining OSP, Marc worked at the University of Calgary, where they were a Postdoctoral Scholar and Graduate Student, focusing on environmental microbiology and studying biotechnology implications of oil sands process water derived biofilms.

Marc Demeter has a strong educational background in the field of Biological Sciences. Marc obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Biological Sciences with a specialization in Energy and Environmental Systems (Interdisciplinary) from the University of Calgary in 2015. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Cellular, Molecular and Microbial Biology from the same university in 2011. In addition to their academic qualifications, Marc also holds a Professional Biologist (P. Biol) certification obtained from the Alberta Society of Professional Biologists in April 2015.
