Brian Robertson is an experienced Program Manager currently overseeing the School Safety Zone at the Ottawa Safety Council since December 2022. Previously, Brian held multiple roles at the YMCA-YWCA of the National Capital Region, including Senior Aquatics Coordinator and Aquatics Coordinator, where responsibilities included monitoring aquatic programs, managing staff, and leading health and safety initiatives. Brian's background includes developing educational curricula, mentoring staff, and executing programming schedules, with a strong focus on enhancing program quality and community engagement. Brian's educational credentials include a Postgraduate Degree in Child Life Studies from McMaster University and a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Ryerson University.

The Ottawa Safety Council's mission is to deliver best-in-class road safety programs and services, education, training and awareness throughout our community to drive down the number of road incidents in our community Founded as a not-for-profit, non-government organization in 1957, The root of all we do is delivering programs that prevent road accidents for all road users, no matter how traveled We deliver curriculum based pedestrian and bike safety programs in Elementary schools, ensure school zone safety through our adult crossing guards at over 200 locations, promote active lifestyles through the walking school bus program and teach children how to cycle safely. We have been delivering our motorcycle instruction programs, and licensing riders on behalf of MTO for over 50 years. We even protect our most vulnerable riders through our Best Fit car seat program. Our passion lies in advocating for road safety and sharing best practices that reduce accidents and raise awareness across all ages; and the role we can all play in driving, walking and riding safely.
