Hugo Bowne-Anderson

Head of Developer Relations at Outerbounds

Hugo Bowne-Anderson has extensive work experience in the field of data science and analytics. Hugo is currently serving as the Head of Developer Relations at Outerbounds since February 2022. Prior to this, they worked at Coiled as the Head of Data Science Evangelism and Marketing from May 2020 to October 2021.

Hugo's previous role was at DataCamp, where they held two positions. Hugo started as a Curriculum Engineer (Python) in March 2016 and continued in that role until May 2020. Additionally, they worked as a Data Scientist at DataCamp from September 2017 to May 2020. At DataCamp, Hugo was responsible for building out the Python curriculum and delivering online training in data science.

Before joining DataCamp, Hugo worked as a Postdoctoral Associate/Writer at Yale University from an undisclosed start date until March 2016. In this role, they were involved in developing statistical models for neuronal growth and structure, as well as quantification methods for gene expression and alternative splicing.

Prior to their time at Yale University, Hugo was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics from an undisclosed start date until 2013. In this role, they focused on predictive mathematical modeling of microtubule dynamics.

Overall, Hugo Bowne-Anderson has a diverse background in data science, curriculum development, and statistical modeling, along with experience in academia and industry.

Hugo Bowne-Anderson completed a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree with First Class Honors in Mathematics and English Literature from the University of Sydney, from 2001 to 2005. Hugo then pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Pure Mathematics from UNSW, completing it from 2006 to 2011. In addition to their formal education, Hugo obtained several certifications, including "Introduction to Data Science (with distinction)" from Coursera in June 2014, "Introduction to Computer Science and Programming (MITx)" from edX in October 2013, "Machine Learning" from Coursera in September 2013, "Computing for Data Analysis" from Coursera in September 2013, "Introduction to Biology -- The Secret of Life (MITx)" from edX in March 2013, "Digital Signal Processing" from Coursera in February 2013, and "Modern & Contemporary American Poetry" from Coursera in September 2012.
