Matti Aula

Matti Aula is a Senior Research and Development Engineer at Outokumpu Stainless Ltd since July 2022 and has been a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Oulu's Laboratory of Process Metallurgy since May 2016, focusing on optical measurements in metallurgical process control. Previously, Matti served as Head of Research at Luxmet from February 2014 to July 2022, managing project portfolios and coordinating research efforts for commercial applications. Matti completed a PhD at the University of Oulu, where research centered on electric arc furnace emissions. Additional experience includes roles at various Outokumpu facilities and a visiting researcher position at RWTH Aachen University, alongside early career roles as a process operator and research assistant. Matti holds a Doctor of Science in Engineering and a Master's Degree in Process Engineering from the University of Oulu, with a brief educational stint at the National University of Singapore.
