Sean McKenzie has extensive experience in bioinformatics and academia, currently serving as Associate Director of Genomic Applications Bioinformatics at Oxford Nanopore Technologies since October 2020. Prior roles include Bioinformatician and Lecturer at Gonzaga University, as well as a Marie Skłodowska-Curie post-doctoral fellow at the University of Lausanne from January 2018 to March 2020. Research at The Rockefeller University from September 2011 to November 2017 as a Graduate Fellow focused on the genetics and neurobiology of communication in clonal raider ants using comparative genomics and transcriptomics. Additional experience includes teaching as an Adjunct Professor at College of Mount Saint Vincent and providing research support at Sewanee Landscape Analysis Lab, where responsibilities ranged from technical support to acting lab manager. Sean McKenzie holds a PhD in Biology from The Rockefeller University and a BS in Ecology and Biodiversity from The University of the South.
