Jim Watts has extensive work experience in the engineering and research fields. Jim started their career at Loughborough University in 1998 as a Research Associate. In 2000, they worked as a Research Engineer at Nortel Networks. In 2002, they joined Plastic Logic Ltd as a Principal Engineer and stayed there until 2013. During their time at Plastic Logic Ltd, they played a significant role in the company's engineering projects. In 2013, Jim Watts joined Oxford Photovoltaics Ltd as a Lead Development Engineer. At Oxford Photovoltaics Ltd, they focused on the development of solid-state dye-sensitized solar cells. In 2015, they became the Head of Engineering at the same company, where they continued to contribute to the advancement of photovoltaic technologies. Since August 2020, Jim Watts has been working at Oxford PV as the Department Manager for R&D Operations and Engineering. In this role, they oversee the research and development operations, ensuring efficient and effective engineering processes.
Jim Watts attended Solihull Sixth Form, although the start and end years are unavailable. After that, they studied at Loughborough University from 1992 to 1996 and earned a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) DIS degree in Electronics Manufacture and Management. Later, from 1998 to 2000, they pursued an M.Phil degree in Manufacturing Engineering at Loughborough University as well.
