Alex Hammacher

Alex Hammacher has over 14 years of work experience in various roles and industries. Alex is currently the Head of Strategic Operations & Corporate Finance at Oxford Science Enterprises since October 2019. Prior to that, they served as the Non Executive Director at Vaccitech from January 2020.

Between 2015 and 2019, Alex worked at Lazard, first as a Vice President from October 2015 to February 2017, and then as a Director from February 2017 to October 2019.

Before Lazard, they held positions at UBS Investment Bank, starting as an Analyst in M&A from July 2007 to December 2008. Alex then worked as an Analyst and Associate Director in the EMEA Power & Utilities division, specializing in Utilities M&A and debt capital markets. From February 2014 to October 2015, they held the role of Director, APAC Power, Utilities and Infrastructure.

Alex also has some experience in the healthcare sector. Alex worked as an Emergency department medical officer at Kisiizi Bush Hospital Uganda in 2007. Prior to that, they served as a Senior house officer in A&E/Trauma at Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust in 2006, and as a Medical house officer at High Wycombe General in the same year. Alex started their career as a Surgical house officer at John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford in 2005.

Alex Hammacher attended the University of Oxford from 1999 to 2002, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Physiological Sciences. Following this, they continued their education at the University of Oxford from 1999 to 2005, earning a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (BS BCh) degree in Medicine and Surgery.
