Skylar Bates

Skylar Bates is a freelance journalist currently contributing to the Pacific Coast Business Times since April 2024, following experiences as an intern reporter. Prior to this role, Skylar worked at Duffl from February 2022 to May 2024 as a Captain (Shift Lead), where responsibilities included organizing delivery drivers and routes to ensure timely service, handling up to 700 orders a day, and utilizing strong interpersonal communication to address customer needs in a fast-paced setting. Additionally, Skylar interned at the Death Penalty Information Center from September 2023 to December 2023, conducting research on the national death penalty and assisting in the editing of the Year-End Report. Skylar is pursuing a B.A. in Political Science with a minor in Professional Writing (Journalism Track) at UC Santa Barbara, complemented by participation in the University of California Washington Program in fall 2023.
