Deputy Director, Human Rights And Social Development Division at Pacific Community

Tara Chetty serves as the Deputy Director of the Human Rights and Social Development Division at Pacific Community-SPC since January 2022. Previously, Tara held various positions at the Pacific Women Support Unit from August 2016 to December 2021, including Manager Programs for Pacific Women Lead and Partnerships Lead. During a tenure with the Fiji Women's Rights Movement from March 2012 to August 2016, Tara served as Executive Director, Programme Director, and Programme Manager. In 2011, Tara worked as the UNV National Coordinator for UPR Follow-up at OHCHR, contributing to the implementation of Universal Periodic Review recommendations. Earlier experience includes the role of Communications Officer at Women Human Rights Defenders International Coalition and the Fiji Women's Rights Movement, as well as a part-time news presenter at Fiji Television. Tara Chetty earned a Master of Arts in Women's & Gender Studies from Rutgers University and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism/Sociology from The University of the South Pacific.
