James Burritt

SVP & Deputy Chief Investment Officer at Pacific Life

Mr. Burritt is senior vice president and deputy chief investment officer, private assets. As part of the investments organization, he is responsible for developing investment strategy, building relationships with major asset managers, as well as overseeing private securities and infrastructure investments. Since joining Pacific Life in 2012, Mr. Burritt has been the managing director of Pacific Private Fund Advisors (PPFA) overseeing the strategic direction of Pacific Life’s alternative asset business including investment strategy, research, and portfolio construction.

Mr. Burritt has 30 years of alternative investment experience across private equity, private credit, and hedge funds. He has experience investing capital for both institutional and high net worth clients. Previously he was the managing director and chief investment officer for Thomas H. Lee Capital, LLC where he built a multi-billion-dollar alternative investment business. Mr. Burritt was a vice president in Merrill Lynch Investment Managers’ Alternative Strategies Group as well as developed the alternative investment program while at XL Capital. He began his career as investment analyst at Trout Trading Management Company, a futures and commodities hedge fund.
