Yousu Chen has had a diverse range of work experience in the field of power and energy engineering. They started their career as the Chief Engineer at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in 2006. In 2008, they joined the IEEE Power & Energy Society as the Regional Representative for Region 6 and later also took on the role of the Distinguished Lecture Program Coordinator. In 2011, Yousu Chen became the Regional committee co-chair for the IEEE Power and Energy Society - Scholarship Plus Program. In this role, they provided scholarships and real-world experience to undergraduates interested in power and energy engineering careers, evaluated student applications, developed intern opportunities, and built a regional committee. Their work experience highlights their expertise and commitment to the field of power and energy engineering.

Yousu Chen's education history is as follows:

Yousu Chen earned a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Sichuan University, where they studied from 1993 to 1997. They then pursued a Master's Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Nankai University from 1999 to 2002. During this time, Yousu Chen also obtained the MCSE certification from Microsoft in July 1999.

Later, from 2002 to 2004, Yousu Chen attended Washington State University, focusing on electrical engineering. After completing their education, Yousu Chen gained further certifications. They obtained the Professional Engineer certification from the Washington State Department of Licensing in June 2010 and the HIL Specialist Certification from Typhoon HIL, Inc. in February 2019.
