Steve McCairns has a diverse work experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Steve started their career at Amersham International as a Project Leader and Quality Control Manager. Steve then moved on to become a Manufacturing Manager at Nycomed-Amersham, specializing in the manufacture and supply of lyophilized parenterals.

Steve then joined GE Healthcare as an Operations Director, responsible for all site manufacturing, technical, and quality control activities. Steve later became the Site Director, leading the site management team and overseeing a portfolio of aseptic pharmaceutical injectables, sterile intermediates, and medical devices. Steve implemented lean strategies to enhance productivity and process simplification.

After their time at GE Healthcare, Steve joined PCI Pharma Services as the UK Director of Operations. Steve had multi-site leadership responsibility and was a Board of Directors executive for a global contract manufacturing business. Steve managed the UK operations and was responsible for ~300 staff across four UK plants.

Most recently, Steve has been with Pacira Biosciences, Inc. Steve initially served as the Senior Director of UK Operations, overseeing the UK limited company subsidiary. Steve was then promoted to Executive Director for the UK and ultimately to Vice President, UK Operations. In these roles, they led the UK organization, covering design, development, and execution responsibilities and played a significant role in the expansion and international supply of the company's products. Steve was also a member of the Global Technical Operations Leadership Team.

Steve McCairns has a diverse education history. Steve obtained a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) degree in Strategic Change Management & Leadership from the University of Gloucestershire from 2012 to 2017. Prior to that, they completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Business Administration, Management and Operations at the same university from 1995 to 1998.
