I started in the pallet recycling business to pay medical bills for my premie son in 1984. I was 23. God blessed our business as well as my husband, Ric, and I through our next son, who is autistic, epileptic and has CP. We began the business in our backyard in 1984. It grew every year for 8 years without being listed in the phone book. Yes this was before the Google. Word of mouth was our advertisement! I am proud of what we built and the integrity we put into every job we took on and every step forward we took! I have watched the pallet recycling and manufacturing industry grow and flourish as well as suffer great setbacks in the past 41 years. I am proud to see that it has gained integrity over my lifetime and continues to become more respectable. We sold our business to Paltech in 2008 and have enjoyed 16 years of working with a great team who's goals mirror our own. It has been a privilege to work with this team of dedicated people. I continue to learn from each of them. . . and more about myself and what I am capable of every day! As for my sons . . . we continue to love them and care for them with our extended family. It DOES take a village to raise kids - or at least these kids! Our family is pulled together by a common belief that everyone deserves dignity in life regardless of the situation or body they were born into.

Qualities I value in my colleagues
Each of us has something different, something special to our meetings. Mark has a way of summarizing, keeping everyone on task and making sure we don't spend too much time around that table but rather, in the plant and with our customers making our world go round! James has a serious sense of fairness that I am sure, is partially fostered by raising 2 children! He likes to see others reach their potential and succeed. He has asked me often, "What do you need from me to make that happen?" Ric brings a sense of humor and calmness that helps everyone balance responsibilities. He's a great customer advocate! He has a phenomenal memory for details that never fails to be a time and frustration saver. He knows where his trailers are and the rotation of the customer each currently services. There are so many great people to work with at each facility! I have Jerry in Carthage and Raymond in Ozark. Then there is Tokes in Mulberry and Ric in Springdale (who happens to also be my husband of 44 years). I haven't even talked about our admin team! They handle all 4 locations and they do it pretty well!
My communication style
I like to see people when I communicate but that isn't always possible. I really like to make people feel comfortable and relaxed. I like to hand a fresh loaf of banana bread and a cup of coffee or tea then just tell me what you like about what you do. Who are you? How can I help? If I cannot, it does not bother me to tell someone when they have a great situation and to stay with it!! Last but not least, what did I learn and take away from this?
My pet peeves
Folks we are here to do a job! While getting to know co-workers outside the office is just fine, please, be mature enough to leave that relationship outside the office doors. Business, though often fun, is busy and fast moving. We don't need drama in the office! I say, if you can help a co-worker out and can expect the same in return, the office will run itself well. It is called respect.
Fun fact
I recently purchased a Power Wagon for my husband. He is spoiled Rotten!!! And I love it that way.
