Head of National Security at ParaFlare

Kieran Deale has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of cybersecurity and IT. Kieran is currently serving as the Head of National Security at ParaFlare since April 2022. Prior to this, Kieran worked as an Academic Staff Member at the Australian Defence Force Academy from January 2021.

Kieran gained significant expertise and leadership skills during their tenure at Mandiant, where they held multiple roles. Kieran started as a Senior Consultant in APJ Strategic Services from February 2019 until July 2021, after which they were promoted to the position of Principal Consultant until April 2022.

Before joining Mandiant, they worked for the NSW Department of Finance, Services, and Innovation, where they held various managerial roles in the field of cybersecurity and risk management. Kieran served as the Director of Cyber Security Operations, OGCISO from August 2018 to January 2019, and earlier as Manager of Security and Operations in GovDC from November 2017 to August 2018. Kieran also held the position of Manager of Security and Risk in GovDC from January 2017 to November 2017.

Kieran's career in cybersecurity began at the NSW Police Force, where they worked as an Operative (Red Team) from May 2010 to January 2017. Before that, they worked at TCG as a Database Integration Manager from 2008 to 2010.

Additionally, Kieran has gained valuable technical experience earlier in their career. Kieran served as a Technical Consultant at Commander Integrated Networks from 2007 to 2008, and prior to that, they worked as an IT Technician at SMG from 2005 to 2007 and Southwest Sydney Area Health Service in 2004.

Kieran Deale began their education by obtaining an Associate Degree in Policing Practice from Charles Sturt University in 2010, specializing in Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement Administration. Kieran then continued their education at Charles Sturt University and earned a Bachelor of Policing degree in 2014, with a focus on Counter-Terrorism and Emergency Management.

In 2015, Kieran enrolled in Macquarie Business School and pursued a Master of Business Administration, which they completed in 2018.

Following their interest in cybersecurity, Kieran attended UNSW from 2017 to 2020, where they obtained a Master of Cyber Security.

In 2022, Kieran furthered their professional development by enrolling in the Company Directors Course at the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
