Head of Development - Business Unit Sensors at Paragon

Mohamed Abdelawwad has a diverse work experience in various research and academic roles. Mohamed is currently serving as the Head of Development - Business Unit Sensors at paragon GmbH & Co. KGaA since October 2021. Prior to this, they worked at the Department of Computer Architecture and Systems Programming, University of Kassel as a Team leader / Researcher/Lecturer from March 2015 to September 2021.

Their earlier experiences include working as a PhD student/Research assistant at the Institute of Nanostructure Technologies and Analytics, University of Kassel from June 2009 to December 2014. Before that, they worked as a Master student at the same institute, where they focused on fabricating a 3D UV-transparent NanoImprint Template for optical filter applications, utilizing clean room facilities for deposition and focused ion beam from May 2008 to January 2009.

Before pursuing their higher education, Mohamed was a Demonstrator of physics at the Faculty of Sciences, Al-Azhar University from November 2003 to January 2007. Mohamed also worked as a Research associate at the National research center in Egypt from November 2002 to October 2003, where they were involved in the synthesis of inorganic nanoparticles using chemical methods and the characterization of their electrical and optical properties.

Mohamed Abdelawwad has a strong educational background in the field of science and engineering. Mohamed obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Measurement Techniques from the University of Kassel, where they studied from 2009 to 2014. Prior to that, they completed their Master of Science (MSc) in Electrical Communication Engineering at the same university, from 2007 to 2009. Mohamed also holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Physics, which they obtained from the Faculty of Science at the University of Al-Azhar, Assiut, where they studied from 1997 to 2001.

In addition to their formal education, Mohamed has pursued further certifications to broaden their skills and expertise. Mohamed has obtained certifications in Automotive - Functional Safety Expert from TÜV SüD in September 2022. In May 2021, they completed certifications in Berufsbild: Projektmanagement and Einführung ins Projektmanagement from LinkedIn.
