Lorraine Stewart

Chair at PARKLAND SCHOOL DIVISION

Lorraine has lived in the Stony Plain/Parkland County area for 47 years. She and her husband, Mike, have two married daughters and six grandchildren.

Lorraine's doctoral degree from the University of Alberta focused on inclusive education. Lorraine is a registered psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists.

Lorraine worked as an educator for 15 years in PSD prior to working for 12 years in senior management at Alberta Education. Lorraine volunteers on numerous boards locally, provincially and nationally and learns much from being part of organizations with varied mandates and perspectives.

Lorraine’s passion for education comes from a belief that education is rooted in family and community. A strong legislative and policy framework provides the foundation to support educators in their work. Lorraine believes in providing opportunities for parental and community engagement and involvement to ensure that the board hears and understands all perspectives. Lorraine feels that the board must continue to advocate appropriately to ensure the students receive the best educational opportunities possible.
