Samith Kumara Waasala

Samith Thalakiriyawa currently serves as the Assistant Secretary to The President at the President's Office Sri Lanka, working on cabinet affairs since December 2022. Prior experience includes serving as the Assistant Secretary (Foreign Relations) at the Ministry of Labour and Foreign Employment, where coordination with the International Labour Organization was a key responsibility. Samith's background also includes roles in the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Sri Lanka Administrative Service, and various consulting positions. With significant experience in both governmental and non-governmental sectors, Samith has contributed to sustainable development goals through leadership at UNICODE and has participated in youth representation at the national level. Educational qualifications encompass a Bachelor of Laws from General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, an MBA from Cardiff Metropolitan University, and a Master of Laws from the University of West London, among other diverse certifications in management, law, and public administration.
