Ian Pittam

Ian Pittam began their work experience in 2003 as a Sandwich Student in Molecular Toxicology at AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals, where they analyzed gene expression profiles and validated Affymetrix Microarrays for ToxicoGenomic research. From 2005 to 2006, they worked as a Scientist in the Assay Development team within DECS at AstraZeneca R&D, focusing on Sandwich ELISA development and kinase inhibitor screening.

In 2006, Ian joined Renovo as a Senior Research Associate, responsible for managing an Affymetrix GeneChip system and conducting processing and analysis of clinical and pre-clinical samples. Ian then moved to Affymetrix, where they held multiple roles from 2008 to 2017. Ian served as a Field Applications Specialist, providing pre- and post-sales support for Affymetrix's product range, and was promoted multiple times, eventually becoming the Gene Expression Specialist for Europe.

From 2017 to 2019, Ian worked as the Sales Manager for the UK and Ireland at Agena Bioscience, focusing on business development and strategic growth in key markets. Ian then joined Thermo Fisher Scientific in 2019 as a Senior Technical Sales Consultant, specializing in reproductive health.

In 2022, Ian joined Seer as the CX Lead for Europe before transitioning to Gigahearts FX, a hobby business they founded, where they handmakes boutique-style analog-based guitar effects units. Currently, they are the Manager of Field Applications in Europe at Parse Biosciences, leading a team of scientists to provide consultation and guidance, with the goal of making single cell technologies more accessible.
