Ian Pittam began their work experience in 2003 as a Sandwich Student in Molecular Toxicology at AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals, where they analyzed gene expression profiles and validated Affymetrix Microarrays for ToxicoGenomic research. From 2005 to 2006, they worked as a Scientist in the Assay Development team within DECS at AstraZeneca R&D, focusing on Sandwich ELISA development and kinase inhibitor screening.

In 2006, Ian joined Renovo as a Senior Research Associate, responsible for managing an Affymetrix GeneChip system and conducting processing and analysis of clinical and pre-clinical samples. Ian then moved to Affymetrix, where they held multiple roles from 2008 to 2017.
