Margaret Toher

Global Head, Regulatory, PATH Center for Vaccine Innovation and Access at PATH

Margaret Toher is the current Global Head of Regulatory Affairs at PATH's Center for Vaccine Innovation and Access. Margaret has over 25 years of experience in the field of clinical research and has worked with some of the leading organizations in the industry, including Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Boehringer Ingelheim, and PATH.

Toher began their career in clinical research at Boehringer Ingelheim in 1986, where they worked for 11 years before moving to Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in 1997. At Fred Hutchinson, they served as Associate Director of Scientific Operations and Business Development, responsible for overseeing the operational aspects of the Hutchinson Viral Trials Network (HVTN), including site management, protocol implementation, and enrollment expectations. Margaret also served as a liaison between vaccine developers and the HVTN to ensure that both groups' expectations were understood and achievable. In 2004, Toher was promoted to Senior Associate Director of Clinical Research.

In September 2012, Toher joined PATH as Global Head of Regulatory Affairs. In this role, they are responsible for ensuring that PATH's vaccines meet all regulatory requirements and for leading PATH's efforts to engage with regulatory agencies around the world.

Toher received their PhD in pharmacology from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. Margaret also holds a ScB in biochemistry from Brown University.

Their manager is Nikolaj Gilbert, President and CEO. They are on a team with Nabeel Goheer - Chief of Asia, Middle East, Europe (AMEE) Region, Philippe Guinot - Chief of Business, Finance and Operations, and Betty Mirembe - Country Director, Uganda.
