Haoran Liu, PhD

Haoran Liu, PhD has three years of work experience. In 2021, they are the Head of Data Operations and a Data Scientist at Pathr.ai. In 2020, they were a Data Scientist Fellow at Insight Data Science. From 2015 to 2020, they were a Machine Learning Researcher and Applied Data Scientist at Louisiana State University. As a Machine Learning Researcher, they developed classification models to identify sandy sources from sea-bed for beach nourishment and built a deep convolutional neural network to detect thick clouds from satellite images. As an Applied Data Scientist, they applied Natural Language Processing and supervised learning to identity stress levels from Reddit posts, extracted, transformed, and loaded text data, scraped image and user features from Instagram API, and trained a CNN model to identify image filters. Haoran also served as session co-chair for the 20th International Sedimentological Congress in Quebec City, Canada.

Haoran Liu began their educational journey at Louisiana State University in 2015, where they earned their Doctor of Philosophy in Geophysics and Oceanography in 2020. Haoran then went on to pursue a Master of Science in Applied Statistics at the same university, which they completed in 2020.
