Jason Gerson

Senior Advisor at Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute

Jason Gerson has a diverse range of work experience in the public health and research fields. Jason has been involved in various roles and responsibilities at different organizations.

From 2013 to present, Jason worked at the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) as a Senior Program Officer. In this role, they provided leadership in setting strategic directions for PCORI's funded projects, particularly in clinical effectiveness and decision science. Jason also played a key role in designing new initiatives to ensure the methodological rigor of PCORI's clinical research and led PCORI's initiatives on open science.

Prior to that, from 2012 to 2014, Jason was an Associate at the Department of Epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. During this time, they served as a co-investigator on translational science projects, focusing on evidence assessment and comparative effectiveness research.

From 2012 to 2013, Jason worked at The Pew Charitable Trusts as a Senior Officer, where they researched and drafted papers related to FDA regulation of safe and effective medical products. Jason also presented analyses on public health matters to agencies, media, and other stakeholders.

From 2010 to 2012, Jason worked at the FDA as a Commissioner's Fellow in the Office of Pediatric Therapeutics. In this role, they led and managed efforts on medical countermeasures and developed policy documents related to pediatric medical product development.

Earlier in their career, from 2009 to 2010, Jason served as a Faculty member at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, where they co-investigated projects related to evidence assessment and comparative effectiveness research.

Jason also had research consultant experience at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health from 2008 to 2009, and they worked on evaluating healthcare access initiatives at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health from 2004 to 2006.

Before entering the public health field, Jason gained experience in the government sector. From 1997 to 1999, they were a Special Assistant for Medical Services Planning at the Administration for Children's Services in the City of New York. Prior to that, from 1996 to 1997, they served as an Urban Fellow at the Mayor's Office of Health Policy in the City of New York.

Overall, Jason Gerson has a broad range of experience in research, policy, and program development, with a focus on public health and patient-centered outcomes.

Jason Gerson has an AB degree in Biomedical Ethics from Brown University. Jason also holds a PhD in Health Policy from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
