About the Role As a Compliance Specialist at Payabli, you will be instrumental in protecting the company by rigorously assessing the creditworthiness and risk profiles of potential clients. Your thorough evaluations and due diligence will help identify and mitigate potential risks, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and company policies. By preventing fraud, reducing financial exposure, and maintaining robust risk management practices, you will safeguard the company's financial health and uphold its reputation in the industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Underwriting
  • Application Review and Analysis
  • Assess applications for payment processing services by examining financial statements, business plans, and other relevant documentation.
  • Identify potential risks and ensure applications meet company underwriting standards.
  • Verify information provided by applicants through various checks and due diligence processes.
  • Collaborate with the Director of CRU to evaluate high-risk accounts and make recommendations for approval or decline.
  • Client Interaction
  • Communicate with applicants to gather additional information or clarify details.
  • Provide applicants with feedback and guidance on improving their application submissions.
  • Address client inquiries related to the underwriting process in a professional and timely manner.
  • Risk Management
  • Risk Identification and Analysis
  • Analyze transaction data to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies that may indicate potential risks or fraudulent activities.
  • Evaluate the creditworthiness of clients by analyzing financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant data to calculate risk exposure and mitigation.
  • Communicate with partners and or merchants to gather  information to conduct thorough risk investigations.
  • Compliance and Regulatory Adherence
  • Ensure all underwriting and risk management activities comply with internal policies and external regulations (e.g., AML, KYC, PCI DSS).
  • Stay updated with industry regulations and standards to ensure the company’s practices are compliant.
  • Collaborate with other departments to develop and enforce risk control measures and policies.

We’d love to hear from you if you:

  • Have 2 - 5 years previous experience in payment processing, underwriting, risk, or a related field within the financial services or payment processing industry is preferred.
  • Have familiarity with underwriting principles and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Willing to participate in training programs and professional development opportunities to stay current with risk management best practices.
  • Are able to contribute to the continuous improvement of risk assessment tools, models, and methodologies.
  • Willing to stay informed about emerging risks and industry trends to proactively manage potential threats.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment where you will juggle many complex projects simultaneously.
  • Have an innate sense of humility and intellectual honesty with an open mind for feedback.
  • Personable and professional communicator able to interact with customers and request sensitive information in a delicate manner.
