Mickey Chapa currently serves as a Building Scientist at Payette and a Teaching Fellow for the Executive Program for Design in Sustainability at the University of Pennsylvania. Mickey has a strong background in architecture and sustainability, having previously worked as an Architect/Project Manager at Interface Studio Architects LLC, where expertise in housing and urbanism was applied to multifamily housing developments. Experience includes roles such as Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Pennsylvania's Center for Environmental Building & Design, focusing on energy and carbon footprint assessments, and Design Fellow at PennPraxis, addressing community design challenges. Prior to these positions, Mickey was the Sustainability Director and Project Architect at VIA design architects, interned at WSP / Parsons Brinckerhoff, and gained early experience in architecture through various internships. Mickey holds a Bachelor's degree in Architecture from Virginia Tech and a Master's in Design - Environmental Building Design from the University of Pennsylvania.
