Senior Structural Engineering Project Manager at PBS Engineering and Environmental

Nima Ala, PhD, PE has extensive work experience in the field of structural engineering. Nima currently serves as a Senior Structural Engineering Project Manager at PBS Engineering and Environmental, a position they started in December 2022. Prior to this, they worked at Parsons Corporation, where they held the roles of Principal Bridge Engineer from June 2021 to December 2022 and Senior Bridge Engineer from April 2018 to June 2021.

Before joining Parsons Corporation, Nima was employed as a Supervising Bridge Engineer at the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT)- CPRS, City of Seattle, from December 2016 to December 2017. Nima also worked as an Adjunct Faculty at Seattle University from September 2015 to April 2017.

Earlier in their career, Nima held the position of Supervising Structural Engineer at WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff from November 2013 to December 2016. During their time there, they contributed to significant projects such as the Sound Transit East Link Project and the WSDOT Freight House Square Project.

Additionally, Nima worked as a Structural/Bridge Engineer at Exeltech Consulting, Inc. from July 2012 to November 2013, where they were involved in the Elliott Bay Seawall Replacement project in Seattle, WA.

Prior to that, Nima served as the Director of Education - Civil Engineering at EngineerInTrainingExam.com from May 2012 to October 2013.

Nima's earlier experience includes working as a Ph.D., Graduate Research Assistant at UNL from January 2007 to July 2012. Nima also worked as a Structural Engineer at HEXA Consulting Engineers from February 2005 to December 2006 and as a Structural and Seismic Retrofit Engineer at Perdis Ruz Consulting Engineers from 2004 to 2005.

Nima Ala, PhD, PE pursued their education in the field of civil engineering. Nima completed their Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Tehran in 2004. Following this, from 2004 to 2006, they attended Sharif University of Technology where they obtained their Master of Science (MSc) degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering.

Continuing their studies, Nima Ala enrolled in the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2007. Nima spent four years there and successfully earned their PhD in Civil/Structural Engineering in 2011. It is important to note that they have been granted a professional engineering (PE) license as well.
