Karen Alvarado is an experienced professional in the energy analysis and environmental sustainability fields. Currently serving as the Lead Residential Energy Analyst at PEG since February 2023, Karen specializes in reviewing house inspection reports and ensuring compliance with state and energy codes. Previous roles include Research and Analyst Fellow at Sustainable Capital Advisors, where Karen focused on climate-friendly financial products, and Energy Policy Intern at Energy Innovation Reform Project, conducting research on renewable energy policies. Additionally, Karen has experience in environmental education and outreach from an internship with Keep Prince William Beautiful and has a background in teaching and program coordination at the Center for Science Teaching and Learning. Karen holds a Master of Public Administration with a concentration in Environmental Science and Policy from George Mason University, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Zoology/Animal Biology from the State University of New York at Oswego.
