Joseph Reis has had a diverse work experience in the field of psychiatric nursing and healthcare management. Joseph has worked as a Medical Director at Peninsula Behavioral Health, where they provided medical leadership, ensured compliance with regulatory issues, and implemented quality improvement programs. Prior to that, they served as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner at Gunderson Health System, Ohio Valley Medical Center, Lake Chelan Community Hospital, and the Veteran's Administration, where they managed a range of psychiatric diagnoses and provided outpatient practice management. Joseph also worked as an Entrepreneur, establishing an independent Nurse Practitioner psychiatric clinic for underserved patients. In addition, Joseph has extensive military experience as a Major in the US Army, providing psychiatric support and crisis intervention during deployments, including the Middle East. Joseph Reis has a strong education background in nursing and psychiatric/mental health care. Joseph first pursued their Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (B.S.N) degree from Kent State University, graduating in the years 1982-1986. Following this, they went on to obtain a Master's degree in Nurse Practitioner from West Virginia University, specializing in the years 1992-1994. Joseph's education journey further progressed as they pursued a Post Masters degree in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from Washington State University, completing it between 2003-2005.

Throughout their career, Joseph Reis has also obtained several certifications to enhance their professional skills. In June 1995, they became an Adult Nurse Practitioner after receiving certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. A decade later, in June 2005, they acquired the Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner certification from the same institution. Lastly, in July 2015, they obtained the Certified Case Manager certification from Case Managers.
