Wayne Devonport

Wayne Devonport, Ph.D. has extensive work experience in the field of research and development in the chemical industry. Wayne began their career in 1995 as a Post-doctoral Fellow at IBM Corp. Wayne then worked as a Product Development Scientist at Argonaut Technologies, Inc. in 1996, and as a Scientist at Cabot Corporation from 1997 to 2002.

Wayne joined Dow Chemical in 2002 as a Synthesis Group Leader, where they directed innovation platform development and architectural coatings product development. At Dow Chemical, they developed and commercialized several families of low VOC waterborne architectural coatings emulsion polymer binders and oversaw research and development activities.

In 2010, Wayne joined Arkema as the Global Waterborne Technology Leader, where they served as a strategic leader for emulsion products and developed a global roadmap and strategy for product development pipeline. Wayne also worked as a Research Director, Liquid Resins, leading the Americas Liquid Resins R&D activities and coordinating global waterborne technology platforms.

In 2018, Wayne moved to Axalta and held the roles of Global Technology Director, Axalta R&D and Global Vice President, Technology. In these roles, they led Axalta's global Corporate R&D function and product development group for the Light Vehicle and Commercial Vehicle coatings business. Wayne represented the Technology function on the Global Business Leadership Team and directed teams developing various coating products.

Wayne is currently working at Penn Color, Inc. as the Vice President of Research & Development since 2023.

Wayne Devonport, Ph.D. received their Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Bradford, where their field of study is not specified. Wayne later pursued a Ph.D. in Chemistry at Durham University. In 2013, they also completed the Arkema Executive Education Program at INSEAD.
