Vasant Honavar

Vasant Honavar is an accomplished academic and researcher with extensive experience in artificial intelligence and data sciences. Currently serving as the Associate Director for AI and Strategic Initiatives at Penn State University, Vasant has held key titles such as the Dorothy Foehr Huck and J. Lloyd Huck Chair in Biomedical Data Sciences and Artificial Intelligence, and Director of the Center for Artificial Intelligence Foundations and Scientific Applications. Vasant's research focuses on knowledge representation, machine learning, and causal inference with applications across diverse scientific fields, including biological, biomedical, and social sciences. Vasant has also contributed significantly to major interdisciplinary initiatives, garnered substantial funding for research endeavors, and has held leadership positions in various organizations, such as the National Science Foundation and the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence. Vasant holds multiple degrees in computer science and engineering, including a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
