Sean King

VP Of Engineering at Permutive

Sean King has a diverse work experience spanning different roles and responsibilities in various companies. Beginning in 2001 at HITEK, they started as a Trainee Technician and progressed to become a Technician, Engineer, and eventually a Technical Manager. During their tenure, they managed a team of engineers, contributed to system redesigns, and implemented a new CRM system.

In 2017, Sean worked as a Staff Writer for Interesting Engineering, where they wrote weekly articles on technology-based subjects and garnered significant engagement on social media platforms.

From 2012 to 2019, they joined BD, initially as a Systems Engineer before moving up to the role of Technical Specialist and Trainer. Sean worked closely with R&D, conducted training sessions, and provided technical assistance and feedback. Later on, they became an Engineering Manager, overseeing a multi-disciplinary team, monitoring department performance, and establishing strong stakeholder relationships.

In 2020, Sean took on the role of an Engineering Mentor at Revive, where they offered guidance to individuals in the technology sector, providing advice on career transitions, conducting CV reviews, and offering interview practice.

Sean then moved to Zego in 2019, where they held various leadership roles, including Senior Engineering Manager, Head of Engineering, Director of Engineering, and eventually, VP of Engineering. In these positions, Sean scaled the technology team, managed senior contributors, and was responsible for the performance, delivery, and reporting of the engineering department. Sean also collaborated with other departments on company-wide initiatives and worked closely with product managers and technical leads.

Currently, Sean is the VP of Engineering at Permutive, starting in 2023.

Sean King earned a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Electronic Systems Engineering from the University of Portsmouth from 2013 to 2015. In 2018 and 2019, they obtained a Principles of Management and Leadership degree from the Chartered Management Institute.
