Background

PervasID designs and supplies best-in-class, passive RFID fixed reader systems enabling our customers to better track their inventory and optimise their asset management. Based on proprietary technology developed by our founders at Cambridge University, our RFID readers have far greater accuracy, range, and speed than any other RFID readers on the market.

To drive this growth, the company is seeking to engage a Pre-Sales Engineer/ Project Manager. You will be a key member of the team, managing customer engagement with PervasID’s product to help us achieve financial growth through demonstrating and improving on our market leading product performance. This role will report to the CTO Office.  

Job Description

The primary role within the team is planning and management of customer trials, pilots, and demonstrations in support of the company’s Business Development objectives. This includes introducing the system to the customer, planning the physical layout at a customer site, supporting the customer’s deployment and integration with the system, optimising the system’s ongoing performance, and ultimately communicating this performance through detailed analysis of the results. 

You will also be working closely with both our Engineering and Customer Experience teams to ensure the product performance and functionality meets the customers’ requirements, and investigate methods of system optimisation in customer applications, both in lab and customer environments. 

You will be self-motivated, proactive, and have a desire to take ownership of specific problems and develop your own task plan to investigate and resolve them. 

Responsibilities 

Work at all levels of the pilot/trial process, including: 

  • Working with customers to understand their application requirements
  • Responsibility for the planning of trials, pilots, and demonstrations to meet customer requirements
  • On and off site customer support, deployment and testing
  • Providing an interface between the Engineering team and the customer when application/middleware software integration is required
  • Configuration, operation, and optimisation of PervasID and 3rdparty equipment within both lab and customer environments
  • Analysing the data from trials and pilots and presenting the results to customers

Required Technical Skills 

  • Degree or equivalent, preferably in a computing or scientific discipline

  • Early career experience in software development

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a commercial product environment

  • Demonstrable skills in project management within a technical and field-based product environment

  • Practical knowledge and experience of data analysis

Other Useful Skills 

  • Understanding of RF systems (e.g. transmitters, receivers, antennas, and propagation)
  • Scripting languages such as Python
  • Set up, configure and PervasID RFID reader systems in customer environments (eg VM in cloud or on-premises)
  • Understanding of IP network
  • Desire to learn and understand in customer system architecture

This is a full-time position based in Cambridge but will require frequent travel to customer sites. Our modern office at St Johns Innovation Centre, within walking distance of Cambridge North station, offers a range of facilities including free parking and an onsite cafe.
