Rebecca Weiss serves as the Executive Director and Distinguished Fellow in AI Safety at MLCommons since December 2023 and June 2023, respectively. In addition to these roles, Rebecca is a Board Member at Pew Research Center and has previously held a Visiting Fellow position at Princeton University until January 2023. At Mozilla from June 2011 to January 2022, Rebecca led the Research and Innovation team and was instrumental in launching Rally, a community-owned data platform, while managing a multi-million-dollar budget and developing the inaugural Data Science department. Earlier career experiences include various positions at Stanford University, including Assistant Editor for the Journal of Political Communication, and roles as a research assistant and intern in respected organizations like Centraal Bureau voor de Statistiek and the United States Senate. Educational achievements include a Ph.D. in Communication from Stanford University, an S.M. in Technology Policy from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Cognitive Systems from The University of British Columbia.
