Vassilios Pantazopoulos

Head, Scientific Computing & HPC at Pfizer

Vassilios Pantazopoulos has extensive experience in scientific computing and high-performance computing (HPC). Vassilios started their career at Harvard Medical School as a Research Scientist, specializing in immunology research. Vassilios then joined GPC Biotech as a Systems Admin/IT Lead, where they managed all IT functions for the company. Pantazopoulos then joined Pfizer, where they held various roles, including Sr. Staff HPC Engineer, Principal Engineer, Manager of Advanced Research Computing, and Sr. Manager of the High-Performance Computing Group. In these positions, they focused on designing and developing advanced computing technologies, virtual screening, protein modeling, cloud computing, storage design, and project management. Pantazopoulos later moved to Biogen as an Associate Director of R&D IT, responsible for managing a diverse lab computing environment and supporting thousands of researchers. Vassilios eventually returned to Pfizer as the Head of Scientific Computing and HPC.

Vassilios Pantazopoulos holds a Master's degree in Informatics from Northeastern University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
