Pat Robison Sumner started their work experience in 1984 as a Provider Relations Representative at Electronic Data Systems (EDS). From there, they worked as a Data Analyst at Computer Data Systems in 1987. In 1988, they became a Provider Network Consultant at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Georgia, where they worked until 1998. In 1998, they joined Phoebe Putney Health System as a Sales Executive, and later moved on to roles such as Director, Managed Care Operations and Executive Director, Managed Care. Finally, in 2019, Pat Robison Sumner retired from their work.
Pat Robison Sumner earned an Associate's Degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences/Liberal Studies from Albany Junior College in 1983. In 1984, they completed a Bachelor's Degree in English Language and Literature/Letters from Georgia Southwestern State University. Pat later pursued a career in healthcare and obtained an Associate's Degree in Registered Nursing/Registered Nurse from Darton College in 1992. In 2002, they received a Master's Degree in Health/Health Care Administration/Management from Troy University. Additionally, Pat obtained certification as a Registered Nurse from the Georgia Board of Nursing in January 1993.
