Derrick Kress

Vacuum Electronic Device Engineer at Photonis Defense

Derrick Kress has extensive work experience in the engineering and research fields, spanning a period of over 12 years. Derrick currently works as a Vacuum Electronic Device Engineer at Photonis Defense. Prior to this, they worked as an Electrical Engineer at Varex Imaging Corporation, where they were a member of the Manufacturing Improvement Team working to reduce COPF metrics. Derrick also managed ICT and FCT systems for testing PCA's at CM's located worldwide for global product production.

Before Varex, they worked as a Principal Electrical RF/TWT Engineer at InnoSys Inc. where they managed/hired employees and oversaw projects and project completion, delivery dates, parts procurement, and overall project management. Derrick also controlled all company Solid State Vacuum Device (SSVD?) projects including Traveling Wave Tubes (TWT's), triodes, pentodes, cavity oscillators, and other O-type amplifiers.

Prior to that, they served as a Researcher at UA, developing high-frequency trading algorithms using quantitative methods and techniques. Derrick also coded in Java, R, C#, and Python, managed growing company trading assets.

During their early career, they also worked as a Project Engineer at InnoSys Inc. where they designed, constructed, and delivered two mission-critical traveling-wave tube (TWT) projects. Additionally, they designed thousands of parts, braze joints, and assemblies using SolidWorks and TurboCad.

Derrick also worked as a Researcher at the University of Utah and VERITAS-Whipple Observatory where they designed a complete slow controll low noise DC digital capture system and carried out electrical work on multiple Gamma-ray telescopes, respectively. Their work at the VERITAS-Whipple Observatory included observing during the 2009 night season and assisting in relocating a 12m telescope, electronics trailer, and electrical grounding systems.

Derrick Kress attended the University of Utah beginning in the year 2008 and graduated in 2012. Derrick earned a degree in Electrical Engineering and focused on RF Engineering and Instrumentation. Derrick also has an additional certification in Fork lift, but no information is provided regarding where or when they obtained it.
