Vilas Karande

Vilas Karande has a diverse range of work experience in the field of research and development. Vilas started their career as a Project Trainee at Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Limited in 2007. Vilas then worked as a Research Student at the Institute Of Chemical Technology from 2006 to 2008. Following this, they served as a Research Associate at the Nanotechnology Research Group, Central Institute for Research on Cotton Technology from 2008 to 2009.

Karande continued their research journey as a Research Associate at the Institute of Chemical Technology (formerly known as UDCT) in Mumbai from 2009 to 2012. Vilas then transitioned to Pidilite Industries and held the position of Section Head from 2013 to 2015.

In 2015, Karande joined Grasim Industries Limited | Pulp & Fibre as a Research Scientist, where they worked until 2017. From 2017 to 2021, they worked at UFLEX Group, first as a Manager in R&D and Technical Services and later as a Senior Manager in the same department. Vilas focused on the development of Polyols and Polyurethane adhesives for flexible packaging and offset applications.

Currently, Vilas Karande is employed at Pidilite Industries Limited as a Lead Scientist, a role they have held since 2023.

Vilas Karande pursued their education in the field of Polymer Engineering and Technology and Surface Engineering. Vilas started their academic journey by completing a Bachelor of Technology degree at UICT from 2002 to 2006. Following this, they went on to pursue a Master of Engineering degree at UICT from 2006 to 2008, specializing in Plastic Engineering and Surface Engineering. Finally, they obtained their Ph.D. from the Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai, specializing in Polymer Engineering and Technology between 2009 and 2012.
