Tala Akhavan

Tala Akhavan has a diverse work experience. Tala began their career in 2007 as a Child Life Specialist at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles. In 2008, they were an Intern at UNICEF and an Assistant Lab Technician at UCLA - Eisenberg Research Laboratory. In 2010, they were a Research Associate - International Climate & Society at The Earth Institute, Columbia University and a Marketing Intern at NBC Universal. In 2011, they were an Investment Associate at IAMFI Partners - International Association of Microfinance Investors. In 2012, they were a Summer Consultant at Mercer. From 2013 to 2015, they worked at Oliver Wyman as a Management Consultant and Senior Management Consultant. From 2015 to 2021, they worked at Uber in various roles, including Head of Shared Rides, US & Canada Operations, Head of Economy Products, US & Canada Operations, Senior Operations and Logistics Manager, and Chief of Staff, VP Platform & Customer Engagement. Tala is currently the Chief Operating Officer at Pietra.

Tala Akhavan holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Columbia College, Columbia University in Sustainable Development, Mathematics, and Business Management.
