About Senior Programs…

The Pike County Senior Center has been designated as the focal point for senior citizens in Pike County by the Area Agency on Aging, and is dedicated to assisting seniors with vital meal services, wellness events, and activities to promote nutrition, independence, socialization, and health.  The Pike County Senior Center provides senior nutrition services, home-delivered meals, congregate meals, senior food boxes, and outreach; and also administers the Summer Food Service program for children and the Child and Adult Care Food Program.  Many health and wellness activities and social services are provided such as Tai Chi, chair exercises, Parkinson’s exercise class, cornhole, live music, chair volleyball, bingo, and access to legal services and the Home Energy assistance Program (HEAP).  The Senior Center staff strive to deliver important services and programs, provide caring customer service to seniors.

Position Impact and Purpose…

The Senior Programs Kitchen Supervisor at Pike CAC will work closely with the Senior Programs Operations Manager, Senior Programs Assistant Cook, Senior Programs Clerical Assistant, Senior Nutrition Assistant, and Senior Programs Food Service & Delivery Aide to provide vital, high-quality senior programs to Pike County.

Essential Functions…

Functional Area:  Central Kitchen Operations and Leadership

Estimated Effort: 70%

Responsibilities, Deliverables, Outcomes and Expectations

·         Providing ongoing one-on-one coaching to Senior Programs Lead Cookwhile holding them accountable for achieving assigned performance metrics.

·         Maintain certifications and attend required training per Senior Programs policy, Food Safety guidance, and funding requirements.

·         Maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures. Document and maintain records for facility and equipment maintenance.

·         Ensure food is packed properly at the correct temperature for Home Delivered Meals.

·         Assist with preparation for other program menus, and menu changes.

·         Assist with cold component preparation and packing.

·         Ensure proper temperatures of food is maintained at all times and documentation is completed.

·         Manage daily, weekly, monthly schedule of cleaning tasks to Food Service Driver/Kitchen Clean-up Crew, Volunteers, Mature Services, Youth Program, and Job and Family Service Workers.

·         Oversee food safety and sanitation guidelines in the central kitchen.

·         Schedule Job and Family Services, Youth, Mature Services, and Volunteer workers.

·         Assist the Senior Programs Operations Manager to call in sub personnel when needed.

·         Maintain ServSafe certification.

·         Read and convert recipes- prepare large quantities of food.

·         Attend mandatory meetings and trainings as required by Senior Programs Manager or funding sources.

·         Initial and ongoing training, and maintain required certifications within time frames established by funding source with documentation kept on file.

·         Complete annual staff performance evaluations for assigned staff.

·         Responsible for preparation of Main Entrée’ for each program, as well as hot components for Home-Delivered and Congregate Meals.

Functional Area: Inventory, Ordering, and Reporting

Estimated Effort: 20%

Responsibilities, Deliverables, Outcomes and Expectations

·         Enter products used/received daily on Perpetual Inventory Spreadsheet.

·         Responsible for price quotes on food/non-food products.

·         Responsible for ordering correct products for each program menu.

·         Responsible for monitoring and maintaining product use by rotating products, using the First In/First Out Method.

·         Complete accurate and timely monthly reporting as assigned by Senior Programs Manager.

·         Maintain accurate files and records and handle confidential information in a professional manner.

·         Ensure regulatory compliance for programs and prepare all files and documentation for reviews and audits.

·         Responsible for accurate and timely generation of all required reporting and billing information for CAC and funding sources.

Functional Area: Agency Service

Estimated Effort: 10%

Responsibilities, Deliverables, Outcomes and Expectations

·         CAC Committee assignments, and other agency service duties as assigned.

·         Liaison between clients, vendor, and senior programs.

·         Serves as a representative of CAC on assigned outside committees as deemed appropriate.

·         Empower employees to fully embrace CAC mission and deliver successful outcomes for the agency.

Minimum Requirements…

Education: 

High School Diploma or equivalent

Job-Related Experience:

Valid Ohio Driver’s License, clean driving record, reliable transportation, insurable under agency policy.

Completion of program related and criminal background checks.

Minimum two (2) years of experience working in a commercial kitchen setting

People Management Experience:

One (1) year of leadership experience

One (1) year supervisory experience

Licenses, Certifications, and Accreditations:

ServSafe Certification within 6 months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications…

·         Preference giving to individuals with a current ServSafe certification

·         Preference given to individuals with computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office

·         Preference given to individuals with experience in catering or preparation of large quantities of food

Working Conditions…

·         Must be able to frequently lift up to 40 pounds

·         Required to stand for long periods of time; lifting on a regular basis; work in hot conditions

·         Must meet deadlines and timeframes daily

·         May be exposed to communicable diseases and environmental conditions such as bed bugs, etc.
