James Williams

James Williams has a diverse and extensive work experience. James has held roles in various companies and industries.

Starting from 2004, James worked as a J2EE Web Developer for Regions Financial Corporation. In this role, they helped develop and support an online banking application, troubleshooting and resolving issues.

From 2005 to 2008, James worked as a Solutions Architect for both JBoss and Red Hat. During this time, they provided architectural solutions for clients.

In 2008, James worked as an Architect for SpectrumK12, utilizing their expertise in architecture.

From 2009 to 2013, James worked at VMware as a Senior Manager of Systems Engineering. James managed a Cloud Application Platform team and was responsible for providing guidance on virtualized and automated Java and Fast Data(GemFire) applications.

James then moved on to Pivotal Software, Inc. where they held several roles. From 2013 to 2015, they were the Director of Platform Architecture for the South area, later becoming the Pre-sales Leader for Eastern US. From 2015 to 2018, James served as the Senior Director of Platform Architecture, leading the pre-sales technical enablement and coaching practice.

At VMware, James continued working in senior positions. From 2020 to 2021, they were the Senior Director of Platform Architecture, focusing on the Tanzu/Kubernetes portfolio. James then joined Tetrate in 2021 as the Leader of Sales, Pre-sales, and Customer Journeys, building a team of technologists.

In 2021, James joined Grafana Labs as a Senior Principal Solutions Engineer, partnering with the sales team and delivering product and technical presentations.

Currently, James is working at Pinecone as a Sales Engineer, contributing to the reinvention of the Data Cloud space.

Throughout their career, James has demonstrated a passion for technology, sales, and customer success. James thrives in dynamic environments, excelling both in business and technical contexts.

James Williams has a Master's degree in Decision Information Sciences from the University of Florida, which they obtained from 1999 to 2001. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Business Administration and Management, General from the University of Florida, graduating from 1996 to 1998.

In terms of certifications, James obtained the DeepLearning.AI TensorFlow Developer Specialization from Coursera in April 2023. James also acquired a certification in Machine Learning from Stanford Online in March 2023. Additionally, in October 2019, they obtained the CKAD: Certified Kubernetes Application Developer certification from The Linux Foundation.
