Wilma Knight has extensive work experience in the banking industry. Wilma started their career at Wachovia Bank, where they worked as a Teller from September 1991 to November 1998. Wilma then joined Pioneer Bank in 2003 as a Branch Manager before being promoted to the role of Credit Administrator in 2005. In 2007, they became the Director of Internal Audit at Pioneer Bank, overseeing audits for all seven branches. Wilma later took on additional responsibilities as the Director of Risk and Compliance, ensuring the institution's security and compliance activities were effectively administered. In 2016, they assumed the position of Director of Retail Banking, leading customer service and sales initiatives across Pioneer Bank. In 2019, Wilma joined United Bank as an Assistant Vice President and Branch Manager, and in 2023, they were further promoted to Vice President and Branch Manager. Throughout their career, they have demonstrated expertise in retail lending, deposit acquisition, risk management, compliance, and overall branch operations.

Wilma Knight obtained an Associate degree in Business Administration and General Studies from LFCC, which they pursued from 1998 to 2014. In 2004 to 2006, they attended the Virginia Bankers School of Bank Management, where they studied Bank Management. Wilma also pursued certifications in the banking field, such as Certified Community Bank Compliance Officer and Certified Community Bank Internal Auditor from ICBA, which they obtained in 2013 and 2007-2008 respectively. Currently, they are studying for the CRISK certification from ISACA.
